While there are hefty kernels of truth rattling around throughout, the film does some Olympian stretching in its ambitious game of connect-the-dots. And as might be expected, it is rife with inaccuracies and dubious scholarship from start to finish, as several critics have pointed out. Yet at its best, Zeitgeist is a flashy, riveting piece of renegade agitprop aimed at rousing an increasingly stupefied public to the world crumbling around their computer screens. Eye-catching visuals and a healthy disregard for copyright law make for some engaging segues, featuring voice-overs from countercultural icons like George Carlin, Bill Hicks, and Richard Alpert. We are even treated to highlights of an apoplectic Peter Finch railing against the hypocrisies of our times in Sidney Lumets Network. If its sights are on a mass media, short-attention-span demographic, Zeitgeist has its bases covered.
Chocolate: Truth and consequences
Before the Food Guide Pyramid, there were four food groups. The mug I use at work advertises my dietary approach quite clearly: Chocolate-the Fifth Basic Food Group. I eat chocolate every day, which may come as a surprising confession. Im as happy as other chocolate lovers are to learn that chocolate does have a healthy place in our diet, though sometimes the facts do get stretched to fit that chocolate craving. .

Worrying 'in vein'? - Dealing with those pesky varicose woes
Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins. The word 'varicose' actually comes from the Latin word varix, which means twisted. The term commonly refers to the veins on the leg any vein may become varicose. Haemorrhoids (piles), for example, are simply varicose veins in the rectum and anus. A milder variation of varicose veins, spider veins, may occur on the legs or face and create cosmetic concerns. Varicose veins are a common condition, affecting up to 15 per cent of men and up to 25 per cent of women. Varicose veins can cause pain, swelling and discomfort, and may sometimes lead to more serious medical problems like leg ulcers. Varicose veins signal some disturbance in the circulatory system and may suggest a higher risk of other problems in that system. CAUSES Only veins have varicosities.

Dr Cancer Worst time: junior doctor handover in the first weeks of February and August. Dr Mind Worst time is Friday and Saturday night when the drunken kids are out beating themselves up, crashing cars and overloading hospitals. Dr Child A&E is very unpredictable. Urgent situations will be dealt with quickly, regardless of how busy the department is. Dr Everything Best time is when there is no alternative. Worst time is on Christmas Eve or Good Friday with an unknown condition. Hospitals are understaffed over weekends and bank holidays. Usually cover is arranged for junior staff, but consultant rounds are rare and haphazard. If I go to a major teaching hospital, will I get a better doctor? Dr Everything You will get more learned [specialist] consultants who can distinguish between dermatofibrosarcoma [a potentially malignant skin tumour] and a mole, but you might not get an experienced generalist who can quickly assure you that the dizzy spells, shortness of breath, tingling in your lips, hands and feet are the effects of a panic attack, as opposed to those of phaeochromocytoma [adrenal gland tumour], without inserting certain probes.
All present or accounted for, time to begin
Point is, Hampton, right now, this moment, unless he took a bad step off the edge of a bunker somewhere today (he wasn't in camp yet for me to ask), is healthy. If you can allow yourself to envision the former (long-ago) 22-game winner getting through camp healthy and opening the season as the Braves' No. 4 or No. 5 starter, behind John Smoltz, Tim Hudson, Tom Glavine and one of the several vying for the other spot well, it's potentially a formidable rotation. OK, I'm having a real hard time envisioning Hampton getting through the next six weeks and opening the season in the rotation, but hey, it's possible. "We're just hopeful that he can stay healthy," Cox said. That statement was a good indication of the difference in the situation entering last spring and now.
Hillary doesn't need your sympathy
But can I see a show of hands of who would have traded places with Slick Willy when the reporters left the room and the Secret Service was out of earshot? That's what I thought. Nah, Hillary is nobody's punk. So why are some folks, particularly her campaign lackeys, pretending to be horrified that the big, bad male Democrats running for president beat up on poor, fragile Hillary in last week's debate? To put it delicately, Hillary wasn't exactly on top of her game. But instead of acknowledging that, her loyalists accused the other candidates of "piling on" when they jousted with her on trade, Iran and immigration. One of them said in a post-debate conference call that NBC newsman Tim Russert "should be shot" for asking her a moderately tough question.
Von Maur bill draws NRA opposition
More than half a dozen TV cameras blanketed the front of the hearing room, and more than a dozen reporters followed testimony on the bill — a response to the Dec. 5, 2007, shooting that took nine lives at the Von Maur store in Omaha.Family and friends of Janet Jorgensen, a Von Maur employee killed that day, said the proposed regulations may not have stopped the teenager from getting a gun, but it was a good first step."I realize that legislation is only a small step," Pam Ellis told reporters after the hearing. "But you have to start somewhere."Opponents of the measure outnumbered supporters.Several National Rifle Association members and an out-of-state NRA lobbyist opposed the proposed regulations, which include requiring all guns to be sold with trigger locks, reporting any stolen gun within 48 hours, the tracing of guns used by juveniles in a crime and the creation of a gun violence commission.Lobbyist Jordan Austin said the NRA does "not represent people who commit crimes," but rather members who enjoy an American tradition of owning and shooting guns.Gun control laws like this one, he said, complicate the lives of good guys but rarely affect bad guys.Sen.
Candidates press cases for Round 2
Kucinich believes in choice, he wants to increase minimum wage, he supports embryonic stem cell research, he wants to shift the tax burden onto the wealthy, he wants to protect the privacy of American citizens against government snooping, and was one of the more forward thinking candidates on the environment… these are all issues I agree with, and yet… Because the guy is short and doesn't look like that himbo Romney, he was never taken seriously. Now THAT is shameful. I blame the media and America's surface-obsessed value system. .
