irmeleeman5995's blog that may or may not interest you.

Nothing new at school. Nothing interesting happening with my friends or family. And I would tell you I'm writing something but it's a tightly wrapped secret that I totally just blew and I've been trying to keep it under wraps, so SHH.

Oh and for the record Sponge, the reason I hadn't blogged was first I ordered the gun, which was news, then I got the gun, which was news, then I got the gun but couldn't shoot it, which was news, and then I got to shoot it today, so that summed everything up. Come to think of it, I'm going to Steve's house tomorrow along with Ben to slink around in the woods around his house with our guns and just pretend like we're on a mission. It should prove to be really awesome, seeing as we all have sweet guns. More on that on the weekend once it happens, okay?

Until next time, I've been a pretty boring (I guess) irmeleeman5995, and that is most certainly a mouthful to say!

Surging to Bosnia? Is it possible that the "surge" is actually a fairly logical political precursor to a U.S.-aided Bosnia-like partition along the lines suggested by Michael O'Hanlon and Edward Joseph? If you listen to Anne Garrels' report from Baghdad, you'll hear U.S. soldiers attempting to reassure Sunnis threatened by Shiite militias (and by the Shiite-dominated Iraqi Army units with which we are supposedly cooperating in the surge). The Sunnis appear to regard the Americans as legitimate protectors. Today, the Americans tell them they will try to keep them from being chased out of the neighborhood. ("I will talk to the Iraqi Army tonight,"the American captain promises.) Tomorrow, if the surge fails, will the Americans tell the Sunnis "We're sorry. We tried. We made things a bit safer, but we can't really protect you.

Fair orgainzers get to heart of women's health

Carmen Gomez waited patiently inside an exhibit hall at the Dallas Convention Center on Saturday.

"If you want to live longer, you need to keep up with your numbers," she said.

The numbers Ms. Gomez was waiting for were results from her blood work. She would later sit down with student from Baylor University Medical Center for a private consultation.

Ms. Gomez was one of about 1,500 women who were expected to receive free health screenings Saturday at The Women's Heart Health Fair, presented by the Sister to Sister Foundation.

The group, armed with doctors, presenters and medical equipment, wanted to increase awareness of heart disease in women. Ms. Gomez, who lives in Haltom City, said her participation was "all about health."

"This has helped me eat healthier and get regular checkups," she said.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave approval Friday to a new drug-eluting stent for use in treating patients with narrowed coronary arteries.

The Endeavor Zotarolimus-Eluting Coronary Stent, manufactured by Medtronic Inc., of Minneapolis, is the first such stent OK'd since 2004 and the first since an agency panel convened in 2006 to examine the risk of blood clots occurring in patients who receive drug-eluting stents.

Stents are tiny mesh tubes positioned in an artery to act as a scaffold that keeps a clogged artery open. Stents can be bare-metal or drug-eluting -- coated with drugs -- to ensure that the artery doesn't re-close in a process call restenosis.

According to the FDA, Medtronic provided data from seven clinical trials in its application showing that the Endeavor significantly reduced the number of major coronary events such as heart attack or cardiac death.

UK: Police on Jersey enter bricked-up room at suspect children's home

Police on the island of Jersey have broken into a bricked-up room at a former children's home which is the focus of a child abuse investigation. Police have already found a child's skull buried on the grounds of the former Haut de la Garenne home. Jersey's deputy police chief, Lenny Harper, says that a dog trained to search for human remains reacted strongly inside the room but there was no immediate indication why. More than 100 people who lived in the home for orphaned or abandoned children have come forward to say they were abused in what authorities believe could be one of Britain's worst child care scandals. Harper said breaching the wall on Wednesday was only the start of a long investigation. .

Move over, boomers — it's millennials' turn

THE SCENE at American University was electric: thousands of young people filling an arena to hear venerable Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Kennedy endorse Barack Obama for president and praise the Illinois senator's ability to inspire and move a new generation of Americans.

It was the perfect setting for Obama, who has been focused on this new "millennial generation" from the start. Almost a year ago, in a speech to African-American leaders in Selma, Ala., he underlined the differences between two types of generations: the "Moses generation" that led the children of Israel out of slavery, and the "Joshua generation" that established the kingdom of Israel. The first was a generation of idealists and dreamers, the second a generation of doers and builders.

With that speech, in which he associated Sen.

Expected revenues fall short in Rochester

All you've got to do is look around this city, look around the nation, and see what's happening."

Ward 1 Councilor Ray Varney said he expects the idea to be discussed at next month's meeting. "You've got to somehow get some additional revenue or reduce expenditures if you want to offset what you know to be losses."

The city administration hasn't called for a budget freeze, but the option hasn't been taken off the table. "We need to determine where we're at and really evaluate things," Finance Director Brian LeBrun said Thursday. "I'm not willing to use that term at the time, but it might happen."

To avoid going that route, LeBrun is going through budgets "with a fine-tooth comb" to see where there may be additional revenue or where there can be savings.
